What is this?
We realise that right now in the US, a lot of communities and groups and individuals are facing erasure, oppression, financial hardship, personal hardship in a way that was completely out of mind only a few short years ago. We also realise that folks offering support for these people in the US right now might be targeted in ways that those of us overseas can't be. At least, not in the same way.
So, this monthly gathering is aimed to help, It's a space to rant, get things off your chest, ask for help or resources, offer help and resources, generally offer as safe a space as we can make it to engage with others fighting the fight, whatever their battles look like.
Who is this for?
For anyone who is suffering under the current US administration. This includes those who aren't on the front lines.
Some of us have the energy and capability to be able to fight in public. Others are working in the background. Still others are surviving. All are welcome here.
Fair warning - you can and will be kicked out for engaging in behaviours that aren't supportive. That doesn't mean you can't challenge narratives. It does mean you can't tell someone their lived experience is invalid.
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for derisive behavior or attempts to derail the support. Help and advice should only be offered when specifically requested, and prayers and blessings are welcome only upon request.
While we respect everyone's right to their own opinions, any expression of far-right rhetoric, advocacy for genocide, or promotion of heinous crimes will result in immediate removal from the group. Our priority is to maintain a safe and respectful space for all members.
